Tomcat brand mouse killer works well for me. By the time you get to the pail to check, no dispatching needed, a fling of the pail into the grove and refill with water the trap is reset for the next round. When the mouse bridges over to reach the PB, the can will rotate and mouse has no where to go but down to the water. Make a ramp up the side and to approximately the middle of the pail, but far enough away from the can so the mouse has to "bridge" from the ramp to the can. Heavy straight wire to go through the top of the pail and the middle of can so the can is able to rotate freely. Soup can size can with both ends intact yet. ![]() Posted 15:27 (#1050850 - in reply to #1050721) Subject: Re: Need Better Mouse Trapĥ gal bucket half full of water ( should be viable for you this time of year ). (vmt.jpg) Attachments - vmt.jpg (34KB - 53 downloads) Much better catch rate with these and no stolen bait. When your mouses put their front paw on these pedals they will spring. Victor changed the bait pedal on these and they work much better than the old small pedal. ![]() Here's what you need - the better mousetrap. Maybe you could put a lid on all containers except for the "mouse trap"? We actually found ours at our friendly Menards store for $10. We recently bought a catchmaster trap & after using it we like it the best of any we have tried. Her mother come over and literally ripped it out of my hand. I caught a mouse and took it over to a one of my favorite cats and she just sniffed it and sat back down. For every mouse you see there are 9 you don't. Cats are good but they will never keep up with the population you got going there, plus once they kill one they are done for a while. Then keep the poison in there in bait boxes placed along a wall and dark corners. Make sure the little varmits have nothing else to eat but the poison and use the kill in one feeding kind of stuff. Best way is to empty out building for a couple of days and spread around a bunch of poison. Posted 14:29 (#1050755 - in reply to #1050721) Subject: Re: Need Better Mouse Trapįorget the traps. I have had good luck with this company also Not cheap, takes awhile, then it gets better. Future- put out the bait in pvc tubs where the cats cannot get access. So what is good trap that can catch multiple mice all at once. Since the inside is lined with tin the only place I can see them getting in is crack around the door. I did see one that was under the container that ran under the shed so apparently I have a whole community under there. Just as an experiment, I set the Victor traps down in the container and I watched mice jump all over that thing and never get caught. I took care of them and went back this morning and there was another 12+. Last night I went out to do chores and there were probably 24+ of the little mice in one container. Now, I usually keep the containers full (easier for the kids to get grain out of them than out of the bulk bin ) but with the snow we got two days ago, I have let them get pretty close to empty. In the process the 3 cats we have took out a couple of the little furry vermin. I cleaned up the shed a few weeks ago and stacked the remaining sacks on top of a couple of the containers. I had been trying the little Victor traps but no luck. I have known for a while that we have had a mouse problem as I see sacks torn up. I have an 8 x 10 grainery that I store sacked feed in along with a few containers of bulk feed out of a bin.
